In 1965, after GCE exams were over, I and several other boys from my school acted as classroom assistants at a school for disabled children.

The courage displayed by these children had a profound effect on me and after my experiences in those few weeks I realised that my future lay in supporting and helping people.

Now, after nearly 60 years working in the public sector, I am Chair of Fradley Parish Council, where I and my fellow Councillors are committed to providing residents with the best possible services and facilities.

I moved to Fradley in 2019 just in time to enter the first lockdown.

I joined the Fradley United volunteers and helped vulnerable residents with prescriptions and shopping. It was very worthwhile, as many of them wouldn't have any other human contact.

Having been a school governor, a Magistrate and an NHS volunteer driver, I firmly believe in giving back to my community.

The logical next step was to become a Parish Councillor, which I did in 2023. We meet monthly to discuss the needs of Fradley residents, and seek to have the best impact available in improving our village.

I have lived in the Lichfield District for the past 30 years and have seen an array of changes in my time. I settled in the Parish of Fradley on the Sheasby Park Estate in 2019.

I feel that becoming a local Parish Councillor here in Fradley will give me the opportunity to try to make changes in order to aid the wellbeing of my local community now and hopefully for the future generations to come.

I moved to Fradley Village in 2024, having previously lived in Tamworth and Comberford for over 50 years. Now retired after a long career in the titanium industry, I enjoy giving back to the community and have previously volunteered with St Giles Hospice, a role I hope to continue in the future.

Attracted by the welcoming feel of Fradley, I am delighted to now call it home. As a Parish Councillor, I am committed to contributing positively to village life, working with and for residents of all ages to help maintain, enhance, and improve our community for today and for future generations.

Having lived in the village for over 20 years, I have developed a real understanding of the community and the issues that matter most to local residents. I have joined the Parish Council to ensure that the voices of villagers are heard and represented, and to help shape decisions that have a positive, lasting impact on the area.

With a strong commitment to improving the neighbourhood, I believe that active involvement at a local level is the best way to support meaningful change, strengthen community spirit, and help the village continue to thrive for both current and future generations.
